Before you go to Russia, taste Russia at Mari Vanna

MARI VANNA IN A BITE

Situated in the heart of Knightsbridge between the doorsteps of One Hyde Park and the Bvlgari hotel, visitors are warmly welcomed into the new London home of Russian matriarch, the mythical Mari Vanna. According to Russian folklore, Mari Vanna invited weary guests and travellers into her kitchen for a home-cooked meal and a cosy retreat.

Mari Vanna specialises in “babushka cooking” and the menu of Russian dishes also features influences from
the former Soviet countries of Georgia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan amongst others. Comforting, traditional dishes such as Borsch with Pampushka (a Russian beetroot soup with smoked beef) and
Harcho (a rich Georgian lamb soup with rice and a spicy adjika sauce) feature alongside carefully crafted Pelmeni (Siberian veal dumplings with a light herb sauce) and Ukrainian Galubtzi (meat and rice encased in
cabbage leaves). Additionally the menu offers an extensive selection of salads and lighter dishes displaying a
liberal use of fresh herbs.

With extraordinary attention to detail, Mari Vanna transports each guest into the Russian home of a bygone era where shelves are adorned with matryoshka dolls, trinkets and tchotchke. Mari Vanna is co-owned by Vadim Lapin & Dmitry Sergeyev, founders of restaurant group Ginza Project, and Luca Del Bono who has operated in the hospitality industry for over 15 years. Initially opened in a private apartment in St. Petersburg, Mari Vanna also has sister restaurants in Moscow, New York, Washington DC and shortly LA.
